Home Time by Mags Ross

Thank goodness that shift was over!
One broken arm (trampoline), one broken leg (car crash), stitches following a drunken brawl (best friends now), one confirmed appendicitis (now in theatre), two cold coffees, a suspected overdose (psychiatric team on their way, partner at the bedside), chest pain, one paranoid parent refusing to accept advice, no meal break, numerous tests and referrals (some lost along the way), one distraught colleague (her patient hadn’t made it), and finally time for handover and for home!
She walked outside, the cold morning air taking her breath away. She reached the spot where she’d parked her car. All that remained was broken glass.
Wearily, she called 111.
