We are accepting entry submissions between 1 and 31 May.
We accept submissions from anywhere in New Zealand, and from New Zealanders living anywhere overseas.
We only accept submissions through our online submissions form. Email submissions will not be read.
We do not accept previously published work, please do not submit it.
We edit spelling, grammar, and punctuation to meet our style guidelines. Any substantial edits will be submitted to the author for approval.
You retain all rights to your work.
Make sure your story has exactly 111 words.
The title of your story does not count towards the total word count.
Hyphenated words are considered one word.
Multiple and Simultaneous Submissions
We accept multiple entries, in fact we encourage it!
We also allow simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if a story you’ve submitted has been accepted elsewhere.
Semi-finalists, who will then be published online for public voting, will be contacted by mid-June.
Fire category winner and runners-up will be notified 20 June.
Ambulance category winner and runners-up will be notified 27 June.
Police category winner and runners-up will be notified 4 July.
Overall winner will be notified 11 July.
There will be one first prize and two runner-up prizes in each of the three categories, and one overall prize.
